TeamCare welcomes UPS Machinists

Tuesday, September 9, 2014

Earlier this month TeamCare Executive Director, Thomas C. Nyhan, welcomed IAM UPS Machinists to TeamCare.  The new members will be receiving a welcome letter that outlines key mailings and dates to ensure a smooth transition to TeamCare on Jan. 1, 2015.

TeamCare is proud to welcome the UPS Machinists to our family starting Jan. 1, 2015 following the recent ratification of your Collective Bargaining Agreement. We are all pleased to have you and your family members join the nearly 500,000 union family members receiving benefits through TeamCare. We are preparing for your arrival by making every effort to ensure that your coverage transition to TeamCare is as easy as possible. We understand that changing health insurance plans can be a stressful experience. Over the next few months, we will be gathering information from your current insurance carrier and UPS to minimize that stress.

Prior to your Jan. 1, 2015 effective date of coverage with TeamCare, you will receive several mailings from us and our business partners. The following is an overview of these mailings:

  • In late October, you will receive a package with information about your plan and a confirmation form with information about you and dependents, other insurance information TeamCare received from your current carrier, a life insurance beneficiary designation form and a Summary Plan Description (SPD) outlining your plan benefits
  • In late November or early December, you will receive your TeamCare medical identification cards for your PPO network. You will also separately receive TeamCare benefits identification cards for all other benefits (prescription, dental, vision, etc.)
  • TeamCare will also hold a Teleforum in early December where you can call in and discuss your transition to TeamCare and have your questions answered

All of us at TeamCare are here to help. If you have questions, feel free to contact us. Our Benefits Specialists are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (CST) at 1-800-323-5000, or visit our IAM web page at
