TeamCare will be expanding behavioral health coverage in 2016

Friday, October 30, 2015

The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act was created to ensure that people with mental illnesses and addictions have fair and timely access to care. As a result of the law, health plan coverage for mental health conditions such as depression or substance abuse must be comparable to that of other physical ailments, such as diabetes or heart disease.

We will be increasing your TeamCare coverage to provide mental health and substance abuse benefits at the same level of coverage that is currently being offered for other medical care.

This means annual and lifetime limits on inpatient and outpatient services have been removed, allowing access to better care and treatment for our members starting Jan. 1, 2016.

Note: The retiree health plans will continue to maintain their existing mental health and substance abuse benefits.
